Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing have been popular activities this winter, and Tamarack Nature Center offers reasonably-priced equipment rentals for kids and adults through their Winter Recreation Rental Shack. Tamarack Nature Center is home to beautiful cross-country ski trails and the only designated snowshoe trail in the county parks system.

Tamarack's ski trail system includes a 4K more difficult loop, 3K easier loop and 1K practice loop that's perfect for beginners.

Winter Recreation Rental Shack
We're keeping everyone's health and safety top of mind – things will look a little different than usual this year and rentals will only be available through online reservations.
Tamarack's ski and snowshoe rental shack provides everything you need for a scenic winter trek through our snow-covered prairie and woodland. Hours throughout the season may also be dependent on snow and trail conditions.

How to make a reservation
Log in or create a user account.
On the top navigation bar, click on Program Registration.
Click on Ski & Snowshoe Rentals on the left-hand navigation pane, then find your preferred rental day and time.
Enter in your information and check the boxes for the equipment you would like to rent, then proceed to check out.

Regular hours
The Winter Recreation Rental Shack is anticipated to be open once snow and trail conditions allow, through Sunday, February 28, 2021.
The rental shack will be closed February 15. Hours throughout the season may vary based on weather and trail conditions. Changes to the schedule will be posted on the Cross-Country Skiing page.
